Kelly Barrie is a Registered Physiotherapist, FCAMPT therapist, and owner of Avenue Physio in downtown Calgary. With 30 years of experience in physiotherapy, Kelly has a strong interest in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care, particularly complex spinal conditions, shoulder and hip injuries, complex pain, and helping people return to the activities that matter to them.
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Alberta. She has completed advanced training in manual and manipulative therapy and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). Her additional training includes IMS, acupuncture, movement assessment, and diagnostic imaging referral. Kelly has also worked in a multidisciplinary setting alongside radiologists and physicians, gaining experience in the assessment and management of complex musculoskeletal conditions and helping identify patients who may benefit from diagnostic imaging and image-guided injection procedures.
As the owner of Avenue Physio, Kelly is passionate about building a collaborative clinic where physiotherapists can continue to learn, develop their clinical reasoning and provide excellent one-on-one, evidence-based care. She believes great physiotherapy starts with listening, understanding the person behind the injury, and helping patients build the confidence and capacity to get back to the things they love.
Outside the clinic, Kelly enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking and spending time outdoors with her family.
