Elani graduated with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta in 2023. Her education journey started in her hometown at the University of Lethbridge where she completed a BSc. and MSc. in Neuroscience. Her research focused on the analysis of urinary and blood-derived biomarkers in patients affected by traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury, and in correlation with rehabilitation outcomes. As part of her project, she undertook an internship in Melbourne, Australia examining these outcomes amongst Australian rules footballers.
Elani’s practice style revolves around empowering the patient in front of her through exercise and education. She believes that physiotherapy treatment should be personalized to further your individual goals, manual therapy techniques are used to facilitate greater participation in exercise, and that the patient should leave their appointment with an understanding of the anatomy behind their injury or condition.
Elani continues to engage in post-graduate orthopaedic training toward the internationally recognized Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy, through the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is also working toward attaining her certification levels in acupuncture through Acupuncture Canada. Elani is passionate about working with runners and has completed additional training in gait analysis to address running injuries.
When not treating patients, Elani is a triathlete and is currently training at the Kinsmen. Outside of training she enjoys golfing, cooking and playing the guitar.
